Nottingham Rugby Win Again!

October 25, 2009

Dairy client Nottingham Rugby thrilled a packed Meadow Lane this afternoon with a 30-29 win over Bedford Blues.

It was nip and tuck all the way through the game with Nottingham winning in the final seconds through a try from Luke Sherriff which was converted by Greig Tonks.

Dairy MD Nigel Rowlson was asked to present the man of the match award which suitably went to Tonks.

Cheers!

I was delighted to be asked to speak at the regional event for the BII yesterday. This is the professional body for InnKeepers and their seminar at the Leicester Tigers ground drew a good audience of folk from the wider licensed trade to hear from key speakers on different subjects affecting their businesses.

I had to fit a general overview of marketing into 20 minutes – but feel i was able to get some useful points across on marketing planning – think and plan before you do anything!

It was also nice to see the re-developed Tigers ground with the new stand – it’s huge! If only we had a ground like that for Nottingham Rugby…..

9 proves to be an action-packed adventure, director Shane Acker’s animated fantasy epic 9 is the feature-length expansion of his Academy Award-nominated 2004 short film of the same name. Legendary directors Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are among the feature version’s producers.

Set in theb too-near future. Powered and enabled by the invention known as the Great Machine, the world’s machines have turned on mankind and sparked social unrest, decimating the human population before being largely shut down.

This Wednesday night at 1.00am in the morning i found myself standing high up on a concrete pedastal in the middle of Trafalgar Square wondering whether i had lost my mind? This was no ordinary Wednesday night.

I was one of 2400 ‘plinthers’ (randomly selected people across the UK) that had a place on the  Anthony Gormley’s fourth Plinth as part of the ’One & Other project’. Each ‘plinther’ gets an hour to go up and do their thing. Personally this turned out to be one of the most SURREAL experiences of my life and something i couldn’t quite believe i agreed to do, but now very glad i could be part of. Is the One and Other project live art, exhibitionism, recovering ownership of our public places, a display of  what makes us individual and human, voyeuristic, revolutionary or just plain nuts?

You decide.  http://www.oneandother.co.uk/participants/Mira_A

KioskKiosk project

KioskKiosk project

The dairy attended the launch of the KioskKiosk project yesterday opened by Wayne Hemmingway. This latest initiative by the British designer with the help of the city council supports creative talent and emerging creative businesses to showcase and sell their work in a purpose built unit in the heart of the city centre. Harking back to traditonal street trading roots of many business including Wayne’s which is proving particularly refreshing in a time where most city centres across the country are owned by global chains and prove very challenging for independent businesses to afford.

Each creative business and artist has a few days each, free of charge each in the kiosk and the project will run over the next 3 months. Here at The dairy we wish all the creative traders well, so if you are looking for that inspiring and perfect gift head down to Thurland street in town!
