Oscar Wilde Night

November 23, 2012

Thanks to Nicki and her team at The Galleries of Justice @GOJ_Museum for a splendid evening last night. Hosted by John Holmes from BBC Radio Nottingham with expert opinion from Paul Mann QC, Wilde’s grandson Merlin Holland gave some details of ‘The Unknown Oscar Wilde’. The highlight of the evening was a re-enactment of part of the famous Wilde trial of 1895. Mann acted as prosecutor with Holland as Wilde using transcripts from the case. As we were in the main court room at the GOJ – it all felt very real. Wilde clearly was a huge wit and his answers in court were as sharp as a blade….. the similarities to Stephen Fry are immense!
