The End of Regional Newspapers?

January 4, 2013

An interesting piece on local radio this morning http://www.bbc.co.uk/radionottingham about the decline of local newspapers. Opposing views were put stating that on the one hand, the double whammy of recession and digital media were sounding the death knell for advertising income for papers (which in turn meant less budget for journalists and therefore interesting local stories) … and on the other – the Nottingham paper has been a part of the community for 140 years and is a voice piece for our communities. The most interesting thing from my point of view was the point made about a paid for paper versus a free offering. The Evening Standard changed a year or two ago and seems to have survived…. can we expect the same in Nottingham??? Nige
