The ‘Moomonitor’

June 4, 2013

The world finalists for the Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards have been announced this week. Among them is the inventor Dr Edmund Harty (DairyMaster Global Headquarters) who caught the dairy’s attention by milking cow inventions for all they’re worth!

What is described as a ‘Moomonitor’ is a cow necklace that keeps tabs on the status of cow’s health 24 hours a day. Particularly useful, is the unique ability to read when a cow is feeling frisky which is on average between the hours of 8pm to 6am, meaning for terrible sleep patterns for those farmers who conduct manual heat readings. The ‘Moomonitor’ provides an alternative to sleepless nights by sending voice alerts and text messages to owners, to keep them up to date with cow statistics.

It is used all over the world in place of artificial hormones and creates a sustainable and efficient solution to the market which is in ever increasing demand due to the growing population.

Fingers crossed for the success of the ‘Moomonitor’, let’s just hope that the Cravendale cat’s don’t get their thumbs on the device!
