House hunters in Nottingham will be delighted to learn that plans are in place to expand the hugely successful Green Street in the Meadows sustainable housing development – the first of its kind in Nottingham.

The dairy have been busy developing a new look website to showcase the completed first phase and give prospective buyers a taste of the good things to come.

Delighted to attend the Nottingham Office Review launch this morning – and even better because the dairy has produced the marketing material!

Thanks to hosts Invest in Nottingham and Co-Star for providing a hearty breakfast. We heard about the state of the office market locally and the predictions for 2013. There seems to be some optimism around from the agents, whilst the city council are pushing hard on the Creative Quarter in the Lace Market… interesting times ahead!

The Derbyshire Intern

February 20, 2013

Aloha,

My names Andy – I will be interning at the Dairy for a couple of weeks.

I currently study at The University of Derby – BA Hons Degree in Commercial Photography. I’m in my 3rd and final year and everything is starting to come together quite nicely. Besides starting an internship here at the dairy I have recently been nominated for the Student Photographer Of The year 2012 “professional photographer of the year” and I’m actively involved in several ongoing commissions in various areas of photography. The commissions range from still life to fashion based work and in addition to this my personal work is being published in Professional Photographer Magazine in April, so to sum up I am a pretty busy lad right now but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My previous experiences (work based and otherwise) include working as a freelance photographer and as a photographers assistant,

I’m really looking forward to starting work here, Marketing and Advertising is something that really interests me and I cant wait to gain further insight into the industry from another angle and hopefully develop some mutually beneficial contacts along the way.

Hopefully I can contribute to the company during my time here and really help to make a difference. This experience whilst not only helping me with my studies massively, it is helping me to stand out from the crowd as few student photographers will have experience in this environment.

For years I have known that Advertising is something that I want to be heavily involved with in the future –  Now I get to see and work on real live projects rather than just university module handbooks so its time to crack on!

game time! 😉

Today marks the 150th anniversary of the first underground journey taken between Paddington and Farringdon on the Metropolitan Railway.

The occasion has been marked by US Internet giant Google with a homepage doodle.

google_2446812cThe concept of the doodle was born in 1998 when Google founders Larry and Sergey played with the logo to indicate their attendance at the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. They placed a simple stick figure behind the 2nd “o” in the word, Google. the revised logo was intended as a comical message to Google users that the founders were “out of office.” Over time, the demand for doodles has increase, as to has their complexity.

Back in 2010 we shared this fantastic festive offering from Portuguese digital design outfit Excentric. It’s reassuring to see that even in the fickle world of technology and social media, the digital tools we were using are still relevant….

Hello from Marianne! :)

November 26, 2012

Hi there everyone 🙂
My name is Marianne and I’ve just started two weeks work experience at The Dairy. For the benefit of your imaginations, in case you’re wondering who this new girl is, I will tell you a bit about myself. I’m 19, a girl (I’d hope it’s obvious from my name, but just to be sure!) and I study English at the University of Nottingham. You should hopefully be able to see a picture of me here at the office giving The Dairy a big thumbs up (Y).
Now then, I should probably tell you a bit about what it’s like here at The Dairy and what I will be doing. It wasn’t the best start ever to be honest, bearing in mind I arrived for my first day about twenty minutes late, freaking out that I’d made a horrible first impression and would be in everyone’s bad books before I’d even started.  Even though I’m at uni now and haven’t been in school for nearly two years, I still expect to get in trouble for being late. So I was pleasantly surprised when, after a rather stressed explanation of the road-works and traffic that caused my lateness, Nigel didn’t tell me off. Success!
I’m delighted to say that I have been given my own desk space, which means I now officially feel like a working woman. I think though, since I’m only here for two weeks, I’ll hold off on filling my wardrobe with sharp power suits and briefcases! I have a list of jobs to do while I’m here, and they all seem pretty exciting to be honest. So far today I have been creating a facebook page, which is possibly one of the best things ever to do on work experience. Spend all day on facebook? Yes please!  I’m a little disappointed that the stereotypical work experience job of ‘make tea’ is nowhere to be seen on my list of jobs however, because I’m a girl who loves a nice, warm cup of tea – especially in this horrible weather! I am somewhat reassured though, because I have already enjoyed several cups of tea in the one and a half days that I’ve been here.
Everything is all very new and exciting at this stage, if a little overwhelming. Everybody seems really nice though, and luckily for me there aren’t too many names to remember! I’m hoping that, after my bad start, things go a lot more smoothly from now on. If I get the chance later on I will try to let you know, but for now that’s all from me!

It’s all white in Clifton!

Despite the bitter wind and wet weather, the dairy team were on hand to show support for Nottingham City Transport sponsored Clifton All Whites, last weekend as they approach their 50th Year. Look out for the dairy designed mega rear on the streets of Nottingham.

Oscar Wilde Night

November 23, 2012

Thanks to Nicki and her team at The Galleries of Justice @GOJ_Museum for a splendid evening last night. Hosted by John Holmes from BBC Radio Nottingham with expert opinion from Paul Mann QC, Wilde’s grandson Merlin Holland gave some details of ‘The Unknown Oscar Wilde’. The highlight of the evening was a re-enactment of part of the famous Wilde trial of 1895. Mann acted as prosecutor with Holland as Wilde using transcripts from the case. As we were in the main court room at the GOJ – it all felt very real. Wilde clearly was a huge wit and his answers in court were as sharp as a blade….. the similarities to Stephen Fry are immense! Hi there…

November 21, 2012

I’m Sophia, a Nottingham Trent student studying Business Management and Marketing, and I’ll be joining The Dairy on Wednesday’s over the next couple of weeks to gain some work experience.

Last I was lucky enough to work for Waitrose’s marketing department whilst on study placement, which I absolutely loved!  And have now returned to University life…well to library life, (seems finalist live here- I’m starting to wonder why I paid for accommodation this year), to complete my final year at university.  So I’m really looking forward to holding onto the working world, if only for a couple of weeks, and learning how a smaller agency is run here at The Dairy.

And to cheer up the office on this grey and rainy day…and to earn some extra brownie points on my first day, I’ve bought in some cupcakes from my birthday earlier this week.

Bye for now, but I will be sure to post again next week.

Sophia
