The Weirdest Time of the Year

December 13, 2013

Good Afternoon! Hope everyone’s had a wonderful week and are properly getting into the festive spirit like I am! This weekend I’m going to put my Christmas tree up, it’s finally time.

However, have you ever stopped to think about how odd it is to put a tree up in your house every year? And more to the point, where does it come from? There was no Evergreen with fairy lights at the birth of Christ.

In fact, the Christmas Tree isn’t a Christian symbol at all. It dates back to pre-Christian times.

When you stop to think about it, Christmas is actually a pretty weird holiday. It’s a mismatch of different traditions that have merged together to create a family occasion of good food and presents. We can thank Coca Cola for styling the main guy of the day, Santa Claus, and let’s not get started about where he comes into the story.

The original connotations of Christmas have been somewhat muted in favour of this jumble of traditions which have moulded themselves over the years to be the commercial Christmas we all know and love.

What a Cracker

December 6, 2013

Good afternoon! Happy first Friday of December, we’re six days into our advent calendar and can’t help but notice that Christmas is just round the corner, (whether you’re excitedly festive or dreading Christmas shopping, it’s coming for you).

But in these long December days (even if 70% of that day is dark) we’ve been comparing that ever so slightly forced laughter-fest known as Christmas cracker jokes.

To get you in the festive spirit, we’ve compiled a list of the most heinous punch lines we’ve ever pulled from a Christmas cracker (along with a mini pack of cards way too small to actually play with).

  Who delivers presents to cats?

 Santa Paws

What do you get when you cross Santa with a duck?

A Christmas Quacker

What do Santa’s little helpers learn at school?

The Elf-abet

Why are Christmas trees so bad at sewing?

They always drop their needles

What do you get when you cross a snowman and a vampire?

What did one snowman say to the other?

Can you smell carrots?

Some definite knee-slappers there! Think you’ve heard better? (or worse!) please share your own Christmas cracker jokes and we’ll see just how many corkers we can get!

Good Start to a Friday

December 6, 2013

Like most people, the first thing we at the Dairy do at work is make a drink. This morning, I picked up my mug and this happened!

Miraculously the drink didn’t spill anywhere! I’m taking this is a good omen for the day!

Dairy Location Shoot

December 5, 2013

Big thanks to dairy friend @PeteThePhoto today for a lot of hard work on the location shoot….

Pete the photo!

We’ve just been reviewing the creative work for our own Christmas card here at dairy towers….

The most important job of the year and we can guarantee plenty of cheesiness again plus random shots of cows of course!

Look out for it coming soon….Happy Cow

Cow of the Week

November 29, 2013

Happy Friday, dairy friends. It’s time to bid farewell to November and get in the festive spirit as December comes galloping in.

Wrangling in December is our Cow of the Week, this week’s winner is … (drum roll) … Happy Cow.

Happy Cow

Happy Cow symbolises the happiness that November, the most depressing month of the year, is finally ending and we can officially start feeling Christmassy. I’m itching to get my best of Xmas soundtrack on and the Christmas tree up.

Christmas is round the corner, the weekend’s close in sight and I dare you to look at Happy Cow without cracking a grin.

Happy Cow you’re our jolly inspiration.

Cow of the Week

November 22, 2013

Good afternoon everyone! We at the Dairy have had a very busy week and our Cow of the Week represents us today.

You might have guessed it, I bet it’s how you all feel by Friday. That’s right, this week’s Dairy Cow of the Week is … (drum roll)… Tired Cow.

Tired Cow symbolises the real Friday feeling. Tired Cow is not excited or jumping around singing TGIF, no, Tired Cow does not want to go out tonight in the cold. All Tired Cow wants is to wrap up, collapse on the couch and watch Eastenders. And Tired Cow is not embarrassed to admit it.

Tired Cow we empathise with you. We’ll see you on the couch with mugs of Hot Chocolate!

10 Years Ago Today…..

November 22, 2013

I remember it like it was yesterday. A bright Autumn Saturday morning, a peaceful lounge with the new wide screen TV tuned in to the Rugby World Cup Final. Australia V England….. could it get any better? The anxiety and fear, knowing that those pesky Aussies always seem to pull it out of the bag when they need to. But we had our our secret weapon – Jonny!

Re-live it here –

I shall be spending most of this afternoon doing just that!!! Nige
